Barber & Bartz has extensive experience in tax planning, administrative actions and litigation for corporations, charitable organizations, private foundations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and individuals. Our business division includes several attorneys with extensive experience, and dual credentials (as CPAs) or advanced legal degrees in taxation.
As counsel for a variety of business entities, both publicly-held and private, we are constantly involved in evaluating the tax ramifications involved in day-to-day business operations and decisions. We also have the experience and expertise to handle tax matters stemming from a wide array of complex business transactions, including the following:
- Public and Privately-Held Businesses
- Like-Kind Exchanges of Property
Even though we do not typically prepare income tax returns, we regularly represent taxpayers in audits and appeals before both the Oklahoma Tax Commission and the Internal Revenue Service. We also have experience in representing taxpayers in United States Tax Court, as well as the Federal District Courts and Court of Appeals.
Additionally, we have significant experience in advising tax-exempt entities on qualification, organization, and operational tax matters. As an integral part of our tax-exempt organization practice, we regularly prepare and file applications with the Internal Revenue Service for our clients seeking tax-exempt and public charity/private foundation status, as well as the annual Forms 990 or 990-PF.
